Vera van Oort is a skilled goldsmith, graduated from Vakschool Schoonhoven and Arts & Crafts design in Rotterdam. She has mastered various techniques, such as soldering, matting, filigree, gemstone setting, wax modeling and design, during her studies and internships. Besides working at her own workbench, Vera also works at a jewelry store in Rotterdam.

Her specialization lies in creating unique jewelry by combining rough and cut gemstones with precious metals. She designs this jewelry herself. She finds her inspiration mainly in nature. Vera works by feel, admiring for example the beauty of a shell because of its unique shape. Fossils also serve as a separate source of inspiration, where she is fascinated by the delicate veins of a leaf that came to life as early as 120 million years ago and is now recorded as a work of art from the past. Other jewelry designers are also a source of inspiration for her. She appreciates it when a designer comes up with a concept and manages to realize it well on a technical and aesthetic level.

Vera feels immense joy when she completes her own jewelry line and they look as beautiful as she had in mind. She is proud when a piece of jewelry turns out to be even more beautiful and elegant than the original idea in her head. It fills her with joy when she sees that the customer is just as happy with the jewelry and wears it with love. The jewelry then takes on an emotional value for Vera herself as well as for the client.

The process of making a piece of jewelry is not only important for the end result, but also plays a crucial role in creating a piece of jewelry with emotional value.
