Diver's Technology
Tested to the limit, and over it. For more than 50 years, Seiko's diver watches have been praised by professional divers for their strength, durability and precision. This appreciation is the result of the extremely high standards Seiko has set for itself in designing, manufacturing and testing diver's watches.
Seiko and Padi. A powerful partnership.
Padi ® is the world's leading training organization for compressed air diving, with more than 6,400 PADI Dive Centers & Resorts, and more than 136,000 individual PADI professionals worldwide. Seiko is proud to be PADI's watch partner. PADI instructors have safely guided beginning and advanced divers under the water for more than 50 years. By developing the world's most popular diving method, PADI has opened the eyes of many hundreds of thousands of people to the incredible, hidden beauty of nature underwater. And made us aware of the need to protect that fragile underwater world. The Seiko PADI diver watch features striking large hands and hour markers, which are finished with Lumibrite for maximum readability underwater.
Caliber V157
The Seiko caliber V157 is a Solar watch with date display. Seiko Solar uses an ultra-efficient Solar cell capable of creating energy from all types of light, not just sunlight. This energy is stored in a very small rechargeable battery that lasts many times longer than conventional batteries. The watch is protected against overcharging. This makes the watch virtually maintenance-free. When fully charged, caliber V157 has a power reserve of 10 months. Should a power shortage threaten, the watch provides a warning by running the second hand in 2-second increments instead of every 1 second. The watch features a convenient instant start function. This means that when the watch runs out of energy, and it is exposed to sufficient (sun) light again, the watch starts immediately and the watch runs the second hand in 2-second increments until the watch has sufficient energy again. Seiko Solar is one of the most appealing points within Seiko's Clean Energy Concept.
Seiko, founded in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori, has an impressive history dating back to the beginning of the modern era in Japan. The founder started out as a watchmaker in Tokyo and quickly became a pioneer in the watchmaking industry. The company produced its first clock in 1892 and Japan's first wristwatch in 1913, showing Seiko's commitment to innovation early on.
Over the following decades, Seiko grew into a globally respected watch brand with a series of groundbreaking achievements. In 1969, Seiko introduced the world's first quartz watch, the Astron, setting standards for precision and technological advancement. In the years that followed, Seiko launched other remarkable technologies, such as the Spring Drive mechanism, and developed several collections that are both technically advanced and aesthetically appealing. With more than a century of innovation and craftsmanship, Seiko remains an icon in the watchmaking industry, bringing together the past and the present in an impressive legacy of timekeeping.
The Seiko Prospex collection is the choice for adventurous spirits. Designed for diving, mountain climbing and other challenging environments, Prospex watches offer unmatched durability and functionality. With features such as deep water resistance, special diving bezels and luminescent markings, they are essential for professional divers and explorers. Seiko Prospex is the reliable companion for extreme adventures, both underwater and on land.
